    I’ve had five Zipp TB’. I made many changes and they kept getting faster and faster. After the first one I never put any vents or slots in the rear deck. I did however copy the Insane with the slots on the sides. Heat was never an issue with this set up.

    A hole in the front of the cowl is good if you are not going to race it. If you are going racing you should take a look at how the Insane TB gets its air by the side of the cowl. This helps to eliminate wash downs. Remember I said helps, not prevents.

    You can get ride of 4 and 5. Once you get the decks on it will lock everything in place. It will not twist. I would put in the 8oz now and run it. You can always add more if needed.     Don’t put a pound and a half in your boat. Put the decks on, you have more wood ahead of the cg instead of behind. Then check the cg about an inch behind the former and see where you are.

    I did not open the nose of the cowl and had no problems. I did have problems getting watered down when I ran with an opened up nose. If you’re not racing you can do it either way.

    I would go with the pulley start or at least and easy start. These engines start good until they don’t and at that point depending on your age, you either pull your arm out of the socket or have a heart attack.
