Phil Thomas Stealth 45 Turn Fin Mounting Location

I have Phil’s instructions and he has you mounting the fin 2 inches deep (presumably from sponson bottom). Also he has you making sure the fin is square or parallel in relation to the edge of the sponson. I’m assuming he is talking about the INSIDE edge. Am I correct? Can anyone supply me...

It appears the rules between the 2 organizations are pretty similar then with regard to engine size.

    Windshields

RC Boat Company sells a lexan windshield that’s molded to the inside of a cowl for the modern boats. You may check with Bill Brandt at Rattlesnake RC as well. Just Google them they come right up. You could get some thin lexan and put it down inside the cowl and carefully take a heat gun to...

    Sold 1/6th Gas Scale hull.

Frank, the max cc allowed is 31cc in Impba. I don’t know about Namba. So a 29.5 or a 30.5 would work. I believe most run the 29.5 and a good one of those will get those boats moving nicely.

Here’s what my “thunderboat” looks like now

Yeah I like the simplicity of them too. Sounds like your cowl will stay on just fine. Let me see if I can dig up a few pics of my past installs. Oh hey, on another subject, heat. The vents are a good way to allow heat to escape from your engine compartment. But make sure that all of your...

Here’s what my “thunderboat” looks like now

This is one of those things that tends to take me extra time during the building process. I use magnets and like them. The pulling force is simply amazing. Their weak point, if there is one, is side to side motion. I’ve had a cowl or two that I had to stop from being able to move side to side...

Here’s one to look at. You want a surface frequency to run boats. Here’s a stick radio you might consider: https://www.amainhobbies.com/futaba-4grs-4channel-2.4ghz-tfhss-2stick-radio-system-w-r304sb-receiver-fut01004366-3/p645524

Love it. And if he can drive he’s gonna love driving the Slingshot. Mine handles so good it almost gets boring😂

That’s a great thing you are doing and it helps breathe new life into the hobby. They are good boats and really controllable. I really like mine.

Yeah don’t worry about water. You have floatation in the boat. It won’t sink. Make sure you also add floatation to the cowl. At some point it will fly off and it will sink if you don’t add something that floats. When the boat is on plane, water will not come in to any great degree. It may when...

    Backlash in some choppy water

I really couldn’t be happier with the way this boat runs. The other boat in the video is Joe Peters’ Gas 1/6 Scale Budweiser Roundnose. It’s a beautiful boat so my objective was to just kind of follow him around the course and not risk getting tangled up with the water conditions being what they...

    Slingshot Footage From Saturday

Here’s a couple videos of the Slingshot running in some serious chop last Saturday. The winds were 15-20 mph. The first video is longer and the water is not quite as rough. For that run the prop was a CoCr CC3 +5. Speed was pretty good. The second video of :55 seconds, the wind had picked...
