My recommendation for a less expensive setup would be. Use a Leopard 3650 - 2290 or 2450 KV motor. I prefer using one of Fred's "Lawless" outboard units. Everyone one has their preferences on outdrives. You can go with a Flycolor 150-amp controller. But a better option is the Castle Hydra X8S controller. Set the drive up pretty much in a neutral position. There is recommended setup instructions on the Zippkits website. These are very close to optimal positions for your drive setup. Position your battery ( 4S 6200 to 6500 ) all the way forward in the open bay up against the bulkhead if possible. I position the steering servo just forward of the transom with the controller just in front of it. This should be very close to getting you on your way to a fun and competitive setup. a good motor for cheap is the dynamite 3831. The dynamite is the largest stator out of SSS, leopard, or TP at 35mm vs 30mm for the SSS and TP. and 32mm for the leopard. Which means its going to handle the most power.

This picture tells the story if you are a serious racer. The G 30 is too small, however, for this kind of power, especially in less than mirror conditions.

Eriel, If I make it down tomorrow. I probably have a new or used Flycolor 150-amp controller that I will give you. I might possibly have a motor as well. I am not sure that I have a new one. I might have some rewound 3674 motors that have been shortened to legal P Limited lengths by Don Huff. I will see what I have and bring it down if I come. Or, I will give them to Marty the next time I see him to give to you.

The only reason I won the class in rough conditions was my 7.5 size boat. Bob Zola was even faster, but didn't finish all the heats. I was able to make up a lap penalty on Ken Haines' smaller, conservatively driven tunnel. He also finished all the heats and was only 75 points behind.
