My uncle and brother put thos boat together almost 20 years ago. It hasn't seen the water in quite awhile.

It's a 45" Dumas scarab powered by a modified BH Hanson zenoah G230pum, I don't know the extent of the modifications, but my uncle had a friend at BH Hanson that sent him the piston.

So far I've removed and cleaned the entire fuel system, replaced the futaba magnum Jr. Radio with my radiomaster mt12, and replaced the nicad receiver pack with a NIMH pack, I was getting the throttle trim setup and lost power to my radio, there is a short in the wires somewhere, I ordered some xt-60 plugs to build a "key" that needs to be inserted to power the radio gear up.

What sort of speeds should I expect with this combination with the hull properly setup?

Did some reworking of the radio box, the wire that was in it for a switch had a short in it so I needed to replace the switch. What I decided on was this setup, xt-60 plug on the front is connected directly to my receiver pack, the plug in the rear is connected to the receiver. This allows me to charge the receiver pack without removing it from the radio box(NIMH pack, not lipo)

The return to the water was tonight.

I've got a couple little kinks to work out seems like it's got a ton of acceleration but no speed. I'll have to do some setup

Post a picture of your strut and prop that rooster is really high needs some adjusting and possible a different prop
 
I would look into getting a different header for the engine. those curve around to center headers are too long. you can get a 105 degree header and follow his guide to pipe length right on zippkits and probably get more out of that engine.
 
I wanted to mention that boat is pretty cool and would deserve a new engine someday. I bought one of those 138 dollar engines off ebay with the black cooling cap and put it in my 42 inch seaducer and it really runs nice. 19400 rpm pulling a 6717 4 blade prop.. around 54mph. you might think about that sometime. I bet Joe at zippkits if you email him he might know a prop that he has to use on that 230 of yours wouldn't hurt to email him.

Dude,,,,, please don’t ever do that again….

I cringe when I see anyone pick up a boat and spin the prop end towards them like you did at the start of your video… I am saying this for your own safety and for anyone that watched your video. It only takes a split second to turn a fun day into a disaster, if that boat slipped out of your hand.
Please be more careful!!!

I saw him do that . He was just super excited to have it going but I agree that is when the bad things happen. Have to mind that prop at all times and be aware its there.

I had to rush one club member to the hospital with two of his fingers wrapped in a rag… it wasn’t pretty…

Don’t ever want to see that happen again to anyone…

That was the first thought in my head after I picked the boat up. I'm not doing it that way again. Thanks for looking out.

You for sure need to try a different prop.. you want a LOW LIFT prop on that boat..

Just checked, it's got a prather 275 prop on it.

The strut was adjusted almost all the way up, I lowered it a bit and just did a test run at the lake. Got half a lap then it started down pouring, the lake is 5 minutes away but it sucks when there are people fishing and dogs off a leash, I'm not risking hitting people.

for an inexpensive prop try a zippkits 6717 3 blade. Even better would be to go to one of the prop sellers on this site and get one already sharpened and balanced.
