ok, here is what i did. this is a jae 12 fe. i started with the same theory as the 21 fe and built a taller tub to fit the battery and motor. i ran it today and it is every bit as fast as the 21fe, i am pretty sure it will run with the 12 nitros. handling was good although it needs a little more lift out of the prop. i tried 3 props starting with a 642 to 645 to 1450. the 1450 was the best although the one i had in my box was right out of the bag, needs s/b and a little work to get dialed in. speeds seemed around mid 50's with no suprises in the handling department. all temps were low except the stock 4mm motor to esc connectors. i will replace with 5.5's before next run. the finished weight came in at 3lbs 8oz with 4000mah. i till try running it with 3000mah 40c's. these jae's are great platforms to build on and this one suprised me. so far i love the 4 i have (12 nitro, 12fe, 21 nitro, 21fe) and look forward to making a few more. i think my next build will be a 2 cell 12.

Chuck the goat looks really good. We designed the JAE to have the ski support the weight of the back of the boat and the tub to sit parallel when sitting on the three ride surfaces. It looks like the ski is close to the .12 dimension which was not designed to support more than a little over a 2 lb boat. Dont be afraid to bump the ski width out to 1" maybe even 1 1/8". I am running the same UL-1 setup (1 1/8" ski) with a thinned and balanced 1947 and like you the only place I am seeing heat is the 4mm connectors. Keep us posted on your progress.

What color green is that?

i was wondering about making the ski wider. the one on it is right out of the 12 kit from zip.... i tweeked the 1450 detounged and it was alot better and cooler, now i added some pitch and cup and will see what that brings. on my 21 a modded 1450 works great so i am going to keep playing with that one for a while. thanks for the tips....
