If you blew up one of the new Picco 45 engines, it had to be human error. I have not heard of any issues since they were reintroduced back in April of this year.

Again, I haven't heard anything negative at all. No one has told me that any parts ordered are to replace broken rods or crank pins on the latest engine. I'd like to hear from anyone who has had any issues.

While there are many different model engine manufacturers in Italy, and some engine manufacturers make several different brand names, NovaRossi and Picco are owned by different families. Picco is owned by Gualtiero Picco. Picco makes several different brand names of car engines, but as of the last time I met with them, they only make one brand name of marine engines, branded Picco.

NovaRossi makes different brand names of car engines and different brand name marine engines.

NovaRossi and AXE Rossi are two different factories owned by two different families named Rossi.

Some engine manufacturers do some of the work for the other factories. Plus, some engine manufacturers use the same supplier to provide similar parts or services.

So, it can be easy to confuse which factory made which brand name engine.

i heard they are breaking rods and crank pins.
I would like to know as well if they are breaking rods and crank pins..... Could be just an isolated case? Thats the thing about the internet....one guy breaks a rod or a crank pin which can be human error or bad fuel or low oil content or a weak isolated part and the next thing you hear is they are breaking?????

I have heard more good things than bad about those new Picco 45's.....

I know of three PICCO 45 that have broken rods and destroyed the liner in Australia.

yes you are right wideboy there have been 3 that have broken rods (BUT) these motors are not straight out of the box ...... these motors are fully worked as far as one can take it Or in the case of the 3 motors TOO FAR

it all depends on how far you want to go

as like any motor the more you mod it the better chance of it not holding together or something going wrong

i have a few in my boats and i have had no problems with the motors they are worked a little but not much

as soon as you mod the motors then your supplier will not cover you for replacing the parts that you break

so as for picco breaks

well you mod them at your OWN risk

like i have always said

go and buy a supper car and then add a NOS KIT ( when the motors is not designed for them and put your foot down flat out with your brand new car and see how long it last for  )

As for the motors they are a very tight fit ( piston and sleeve) must run them in right

then you will get a good seal ...

i have put though 4 lt though mine and i still need to run her a bit rich

thanks neal

iam running 5 picco 45( NO PROBS) i have done for the last 6 weeks

just got home from the lake and had a great day ??????

i run %18 Klots Oil %60 nitro and %22 meths

i run them in right and yes they are a very tight motor and i heat cycle the piston and liner

nitro freek has a few op the new 45s as well as a bunch of the larger older ones.he runs them hard and they stay together.they are very fast motors.

I had a chance to tear down a new 2009 picco 45 that belonged to Buddy lowe @ charleston. The new Picco 45 Must have the 303 .100th longer flywheel cone.(aftermarket item) it appears to be a excellent engine & with a little break in will last many many years. I have not seen a rod problem if manintain properly. jw
