In my job I have to write a process optimization document each year. This involves ALOT of data gathering from our factories around the world, a lot of charting and writing, etc,..

I just got my new book approved.. "process optimization for dimensional control" \

Time to celebrate.. it's a real push to finish these at the end of the year,.. I can now actually think about boats and some of the things I needed to get done and send out!!!!

I'm sorry David, this book is not really a book,.. we call them books,.. it's a proprietary internal document to Electrolux..

The really funny part is that this has nothing to do with vacuums. Most people do not know that Electrolux is actually the worlds largest appliance manufacturer. We make many of the appliances at sears, frigidare, kenmore, Elux, AEG, Zanussi and many other brands around the world that we don't have here.

I did previously work in floor care, That included Elux, Eureka, and a few other brands,..

Anthony, I've also done some work on floor care- when I was drafted into the Army in 1970. But I think it's pretty warm and fuzzy for a couple engineers to be patting each other on the back at the years end. When the bonuses roll in. Fact is 80% of the engineers I've known would go to the the machine shop and ask "how do we make it stronger/faster/better and cheaper?

BTY the two year old frigidaire is the noisiest I've ever had - work on it.

Well I don't get a year end bonus,.. but I do work very hard.. My bonus is getting to keep my job!! And I'll take it!

Sorry about your noisy product.. I do fight for these things all the time. It's a constant battle between the $$ and the quality,.. and sometimes the $$ wins..

PM me on the model,.. and serial number.. may be able to help you.. That unit was made in one of the factories I support, in Anderson SC,.. (actually is made in USA)

. Even as a machinist I got superior performance awards every year- not much around 400-800 per year.

I was always lucky to work in jobs where more value was put on quality than low costs but things were changing before I retired. More overhead and less funds for the workers in the shop.

Nice to know SOMETHING is still made in the USA.

we actually make alot of things here. Dishwashers, ovens, frigeraters.. (nice spelling) The problem with being a global corporation is that it is so big,, that if you ever gave out 400-800 to most of the people,. you would probably have to close a plant some where!!

We actually just moved a product from Canada to Memphis TN,.. built a whole new factory.

Still,.. the cost out efforts never end and eventually the quality gets costed out too. It is one of the few instances where getting a new model can be best,.. actually about 2 years from launch is best. The first 2 years they work out the bugs to get the service call rate down,.. then they begin the cost reduction efforts to recoup the investment and profit.

I think it is GREAT that your company is moving a product into the states(instead of out). I hope this trend will continue and put more Americans to work.

When I retired and moved back to N. CA. I bought a newly remodeled older home. ALL the kitchen appliances were brand new Frigidaire(dishwasher, stove and microwave). I bought the Frigidaire Fridge for 2 reasons. 1. It matched the other appliances(black with the brushed stainless) and 2. Value. To be honest they all work flawlessly. I probably could have bough a more expensive fridge and been no better off.

David , as you might know "patents" also belong to the company you work for. Most companies have employees sign a sort of "prenuptial agreement" stating that any of your designs are the property of the company and are not to be discussed with others.
