I am planning on starting on building a Wild Thing next week for a CMB 45 CAM.

I suspect I will need to lengthen the hull, and was thinking of extending the straight section of the hull (the radio box section) by 3 or 4 inchs and leaving the width the same.

I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts or advice on this?

A good starting point with a 45 mono would be about 38" long, & between 10" to 12" wide. the wider it is, the less susceptible it will be to rolling, according to theory anyways.

I have the Wild Thing plans, & a ¾ built hull at home, but I don’t remember how wide it is. You will probably want to add a little width as well. It does sound like a cool project! B) You will have to post pics of your progress.

I e-mailed John Finch about this shortly after the article came out. He recommended making it 38-40" long and about 11" wide.

Shoot some pix when you're done.
