They are much thinner than Avenger/Spyder sponsons & it was suggested they were '99/'00 vintage Crapshooter, just prior to the current ones. They do look just like them minus the angled cut on the top outside edge like current C/S ones........

Don, I think your right. The fin is a Ron Van Wagnan fin and he ran Crapshooters.

Don,

I have a set of '99 Crapshooter sponsons. They are 4 sided like your photo. However the backside of mine are much steeper and the leading tip is angled from inside to outside at a slant. Not squared off like yours. Could have been a self made set. I doubt Stu made them.

Don With the angle on the backs they look like Raodrunner ulta lites. the sure about the tab by the turn fin and with the fronts they look more likly to be Roadrunners. Scott

They definitely ain't Roadrunner, I ran those for years prior to my SGX's.

Roadrunner sponsons have anhedrel cut into the top of them.

Those are 97 or 98 Crapshooter sponsons. If the centerrline of the stubshafts are 6" they are for a 45 boat. If they are a 6 5/8"they are for 67/80 boat. There are a couple of boats called 60 sprint boats that are 60 boats with 6" spacing (very small fuel tank capacity). There was only two of these built (both are in middle TN now) by Stu however it is rummered that there were a couple built during Marty Davis days.

My racing partner has an older 40 boat that had the same design sponson as those you posted. He has added the side cut as the new sponsons.Didnt help or hurt anything. His boat runs well. These sponson have more dehedral and the ride surface is further back than current sponsons. He won Jackson, Tn spring race with this boat at that was the first race it was in since he has owned and moddified the boat.

They could very well be Crapshooter sponsons. Even previous to the dates mentioned. Look like a set I have from the 80's.....

The spacing is 6" so that would be a 45 size.

Allen, see if your buddy wants a spare set. :D
