Have a 20 Roadrunner U/L with a Nova Rossi 21. Here's some specs:

Weighs 3 lbs Oz

CMD Small Volume Pipe @ 8"

45% Byron's Fuel

I am currently using a McCoy MC-9 with the bottom two coils pulled and it works OK. Was wondering which plug you guys suggest going with. Medium or Hot and which brand? I have looked and I already know that my LHS is going to put the screws to me with their out of sight pricing, but I have a race next weekend and no time to order.

Thanks......

I'm running a a novarossi im my SGX and I run K&B HP plugs I order them from Gary pruesse I think I'm paying $40 a card. I've had good luck with them.

Hey Russ! I run the 9's in mine. Order plugs from Pruesse, or Bob Kensill, at Phils. Both these men are lightning fast (2 days!) on shipping, and will give you the best prices you'll find.... You may inquire on getting the turbo head for your nova, I run some with and some without. The turbo plugs are pricy, but, they last forever ( maybe 2 a season) and they boost performance a little. Had my best luck on 7's and 8's in the turbo on 45%.... Good luck, mike

Might try McCoy # 59 or K&B 1L plugs, 59 quiet abit hotter with 1L not quiet as hot.

On a .21 mostly

I have a few #9's left and a dozen or so HP's. I assumed that a hotter plug would be the way to go, but sounds like others are having good luck with the cold ones.

That's what I was leaning for, but my LHS does,'t carry those. If they did they would probably want about $10 each. I can get the OS #8 or the A3. Anyone try the OS plugs?

I'll contact Gary or Bob to see what they can do.

Thanks.......

What plug are you using?

I run K&B 1 l's in my 21 motors.. only way to go for me.. hp's and mc-9's are to cold.

pull the first two coils.

chris

and if you really want to wake up that motor put in some 60% or higher nitro.

45 isn't enought.

chris

what does pulling the coils do?

and is a standard D-cell too much to light a plug?

I agree on the 60%. I hope to have a chance to pick some up either today or tomorrow.

Thanks Chris.......

I'm running 60% in my 40 boat and you have try some tomorrow when we head out.

Pulling the coils out the bottom makes the cold plug act like a hotter one. What makes a cold plug is thicker wire, smaller coil cavity and even darker color of the plug body. The small cavity and dark color readily acept heat from the element and cool it off between ignitions. when you pull the coils out, it loses that heat path and stays hot a little longer.

An alkaline D cell will light your glow plug fine.

It also advances the timing a bit right?

Hot plugs in general advance the timing compared to a cold one.
