What is everyone's opinion on .45 rigger pipes. I have run a CMD parabolic pipe for years with great luck on a MAC.45 turning a 1655 at 9 3/8 to 9 1/4. I bought the newer CMB pipe awhile ago when everybody was talking about them and it seemed like at the time people were saying they liked them better than the parabolic pipe. I haven't tryed the CMB pipe yet just wondering what the thoughts were on the two because if i remember right the CMB pipe is the same nitro pipe Andy had back several years ago yet it seems the parabolic pipe became the more popular pipe when it came out. Thank you for any input. Rich

Rich,

You just need to shorten your length up quite a bit.

We run a Irwin or AB Parabolic @ 8.5" and it makes some

AWESOME RPM. I am not sure why some are running their pipes

so long? These engines like short pipes and a lot of RPM to

go faster. You don't need all that cup to go fast.

Good Luck Testing,

That sounds like a long pipe for a 1655. However if you could swing a 1657 With a 8.5 - 9 pipe? Now we talking a big increase on Prop speed & MPH.... many times the Best pipe length will be determined by the ambient temp & the ability of the boat to launch.

That is one thing i have found here is that most of you living up north seem to be able to run a shorter pipe than we can run here in fla. I have tryed to run the pipe shorter and run smaller props but it seems to lose RPM's as i go shorter with the pipe with all the props, it will pull like at 1457 strong but it is not as fast as a 1655. The boat launches great with all the set up's but it just seems to like the pipe at the 9 3/8 area. The engine is stock and the props are Andy brown props. Don't get me wrong the boat runs really well and has been the boat to beat here in fla for the last several years 2007,09,10 winter Nat's champion, but it has been confusing hearing how short some of you guys run your pipes. Any input would be great. Thank You. Rich Junker.

Rich;

Is this the silver "Eagle" 45 I have seen you run many times @ Brandon?

If so,,, I wouldn't change a thing. Listening to what folks up north, and out west for pipe lengths will drive you crazy.

I used to be called everything short of a "dipshit" when I would answer a post on pipe length for Scale boats & Sport-40's

What works for us down in the heat & humidity,,,,, Well, it just works for us.

Hi Rick. Yes that is the boat. I think you are right, what works for them may not work the same for us down here. I would like to try some things to stay ahead but the boat runs so well i hate to mess with it. I just checked it and the pipe is at 9 1/4. Thank You for your input. Rich.

You will get so many different answers on this your head will spin.

I have never been one to run short pipes on my 45 riggers , I always went the other way with longer pipes and big props.

My favorite combo is the old OPS 67 pipe @ 10 3/4 with a cupped 1462 and yes I did say 10 3/4.

This combo has worked very well on OPS 45 , CMB RS 45 and the Picco Blackhead 45 , just ask Nik his boat is now faster than he can think since he started running this set up.

When my SG Mac 45 used to run really well i ran that same prop and pipe combo at 8 - 7/8 and it wanted it shorter . Try an H- 18 pitched up , you will like it as well . :D

Thanks for the info Tom. I tryed the pipe at 9 and it lost speed, I wonder if you come in shorter like you were if it starts to find another sweet spot. That is confusing because you were running the same set up, prop, pipe and motor. Thanks Rich.
