These are listed in the R/C Unlimiteds rule book:
  • NEU 1527 1.5Y 850KV
  • HET Typhoon 700-98 840KV
  • TurnigySK3-3994 850KV
  • TP 4040 10Y 830KV
  • TP 4060 6Y 860KV
Not saying they are all that are legal, just that it's what's allowed in R/C Unlimiteds.
Something else you may want to tell your friend is that he needs to lighten the boat up before he puts the deck on. Dumas boats are notoriously heavy, being framed with 3/32" mahogany, so he's going to need to cut lightening holes in all the cross frames and, if possible, the sponson insides. This will lighten the boat as well as give a way to drain out any water that gets inside

Actually, it is the Jim Lucero built 1982-3 Atlas. When the Atlas team went to the turbine boat(also built by Lucero) in 1984, the 82-83 Atlas was sold and picked up the Squire Shop sponsorship. Chip Hanauer stayed with the Atlas team(through the 1990 season and several other sponsors) so the boat was driven in 1984 by 1973 national champion driver Mickey Remund. In fact, this is history of the boats first four years from the R/C Unimiteds Master Hull Roster:
  • 8200 82 U-00 ATLAS VAN LINES
  • 8200 83 U-1 ATLAS VAN LINES
  • 8200 84 U-2 THE SQUIRE SHOP (BROWN)
  • 8200 85-86 U-2 THE SQUIRE SHOP (BLUE)
There were several other sponsors and configurations the boat ran with until it was retired after the 1998 season. The only other boat to look like the kit was the 8408 1984-5 Miss Executone, also built by Jim Lucero. It was an almost twin of the Atlas, right down to the Cockpit
