Green-white-checker' UNLESS a caution occurs, in which case the race is IMMEDIATELY OVER. The 'official scoring' says the race ended 'under caution'!!!  Y Is Martin NOT the winner?

i was one of the more boring daytona 500's i've watched in recent years until the last 45 laps. the truck race on friday i tought was a little better. go #8

I am also wondering why they waited to throw the yellow, and why Martin wasn't the winner of the race????????????

i believe it all depended on where mark was when yellow came out. after finish line, he`s second. they were way too slow w/ flag. next week here in cal. no res. plates. CARTER

TOO BAD NASCAR calls the cautions also, I was hoping Mark could win that one

Ditto on that one. 23 years of trying it would been nice to see 'ol Mark get that Daytona 500 win finally. Harvick sure had some h.p. left there at the end, came outta nowhere passing Martin high on the outside with that push from Kenseth. B)

As much as I'd like to see Mark Martin win the race,he was never the winner. If they would have thrown the caution when the accident occoured, Kevin Harvick would still be the winner.

If anyone watched Wind Tunnel last night with Dave Despain, they had stop action footage exactly when the accident occured and Kevin WAS in the lead than too. Martin took it back with an exchange, but Kevin Harvick won it before and after.

Congrats to Kevin Harvick for an awesome weekend.

Watched the last half of the race.. Makes me wonder if NASCAR is OK with all these wrecks. They legislate these cars so completely, it was no surprise that after 490 miles of racing 30+ cars were not only on the lead lap, but running within a couple seconds of each other. You get these 3-wide 180mph parking lots going at the tail end of a race like this, mix in tire wear and a bit of desperation.. I KNEW there was going to be a "big one" on the last lap.. I wasn't disappointed.. Several drivers after the race used the word "crazy"... that's an understatement. Fortunately NASCAR has improved driver safety.. #20 took the same angle as #3 did a few years back.. At least the drivers came out unhurt..

Well,

I figured one of the Bush boys would cause the BIG ONE,and yup,it was the Shrub.Took him all afternoon to do it,but he tried harder.

Now there's the reason Martin didn't win the race, not NASCAR. His pusher,Kyle, just dissapeared.Idiot!

I think Jr. should tell Teresa to shove it. RCR would give him a car to compete with. Would have like to see Mark win, NOT, forgot to take his Viagra. Congrats to Harvick and RCC. Ray ( PS Don did you check out www.dalethemovie.com) B) B)

The Big Guy, built DEI for Jr. not Teresa. He's said it many times.DEI is nothing without Jr.

And you're darn right Childress would give Jr a car.

Jr would be the ONLY candidate who can proudly roll out a car with that BIG 3 on the side.

I know that would make his Daddy really proud.

I'd like to fund my retirement account with the cost of all the carnage.
JD
Id sure like to see the cost totals for the Truck, Busch and Cup Race. You could probably fund ALL of our retirements with it, That isnt racing anymore. Used to have 10-15 people over to the house to watch the race and BBQ, I couldnt even hold my interest for 20 laps anymore, Miss that black 3 .........

The black 3 was riding on Harvicks shoulder. Hell the RCC 07 finished upsidedown in 18th. Chrashes or no Chrashes, I bet more people will be watching next year.        B) B) B)

I was sitting at the entrance to pit rd and as much of a Martin fan as I am he was in 2nd when the wreck occured. when it all ended the scoring pylon in front of me scored the 07 as first when it skidded over the finish line on it's lid, I wonder if that's when the caution came out lol

If the yellow came out before the finish they would revert back to the last scoring loop which could be much further back than you may realize, potentially before the point of the wreck. It's pointless to think that NASCAR would reverse their decision at this point.
