Hi,

Does anyone know how to weld a flex cable to a stub shaft? Im going to attempt it today and want any advice anyone is willing to give. the things i know so far

* you drill a hole in the end of the stub

* you use oxy / acetylene and braise it on

* you grind away an outer section of the cable and put the inside in the hole

Well, thats pretty much all i know, the stub is billet steel so im told. the cable is 1/4 so is the stub

im thinking of using a bit of brass over the top to line it all up, then ill grind that off later.

Cheers

done it.

was pretty easy, drilled a 12 mm deep hole in end of stub, striped outer of cable, insert inner - braise into place, was a bit of a bung angle at first, then i just gently heated it and sat it in a v of some vice chucks and lined it up, cleaned it all up with the grinder, i cant belive how square i got it.
