I had the opportunity today to run the new AquaCraft Rescue 17 Fire Boat.

If you haven't seen the videos of this boat on the AquaCraft website, it's worth a look.

The water cannon works awesome!! I placed 2 candles on the boat launch and then used the water cannon to extinguish them. What a hoot!! The cannon rotates and shoots water a good 10 - 12 feet.

The attached photo isn't all that great, but shows the boat with the water cannon in action.

I'm bringing it to our club race this Saturday. Candles will be placed on a foam barge and guys will get maybe 3 minutes to see how many candles they can extinguish.

maybe need extra batteries to put out all the candles on your next birthday cake, jd :p ?? glad you guys are having fun - rain, sleet & 16 the other night here.

Careful Dunny.. Trying to put out a candle barge you might pump all the water out of the pond! ............ wait.....................

That boat has a LONG history behind it and the development started over 6 years ago.. When the economy tanked we put it away and decided to wait it out.. Now.. its time! Good thing too.. 2.4 came on board for us in that time frame.

I designed two different hulls for this platform and this one (the hull that comes with the boat) was the better of the two. This boat groves very well and turns on a dime. The speed is “good” cus ya “got to get to the burning unlimited” as soon as you can.

I designed the hull in Autocad and then brought the formers brought into Soldworks and the hull was generated. (I still like to use Acad for formers and laser work). The super structure was done in Rino with help from another “cad” operator here at AquaCraft.

It was a fun project!

Here's a couple of shots from today's photo shoot. The first is extinguishing candles on a foam float and the other a running shot. My wife drove the Rescue 17 while I took photos. She had a great time, but got a bit frustrated when she attempted to water down the candles.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Is this a new District 8 class? Be sure it gets on the District meeting agenda. I think one lap with the candle extinguishing requirement at the end would be about right. Let me know and I'll help you write the rules.

Lets make sure what ever the rules that they are the same between NAMAB and IMPBA.. Bahaaa ha ha

Having said this.. this is not going to fly here.. a candle in the wind.. not going to happen.

1. No tear downs.

2. Go/No Go gauges for water cannon intake tube and water cannon gun barrel.(We all know that by restricting intake and out let it is not possible to increase performance) ;)

3. Any protests will be settled by Grim at the AquaCraft R&D shop in Champaign. Just fitting the R 17 back in the shipping box and paying the shipping cost will discourage protests. :(

4. Those birthday candles that relight after being extinguished are not allowed.

Is this going to be another stock out of the box class? We all know boaters can't resist tinkering. After Russ Nachaway (sp?) gets one will we see the Rescue 17 Il Duce (after the late Italian leader)?

Here's a photo of the R 17 with the lights on. The lights on the mast are a bit hard to see, but the search lights are bright. We often have an issue with ducks at our lake being in the area we are racing. The R 17 works great encouraging the ducks to relocate to other parts of the lake. However, i must admit that firing the water cannon at them is "like water off a duck's back." :p Sorry, just couldn't resist.

Where's the Grim Racer upgrade water pump? The stock one is probably good enough for the Ducks down here considering their last three games.
