Due to weeds, the location of the race has been changed from Waterford, ON to Mike Hallam's pond in LONDON.

The extra distance to London is only 30 minutes west. 3260 Dingman Rd. London, ON.

Please pass the word. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I checked the site thoroughly last August and there was only a few small patches. Checked 2 weeks ago and all was good. We had the whole site set up and only saw a few little heads poking up in the back straight, no problem right?

At the end of the day when the pond was completely flat it was another story, I could almost cry it was so bad. I couldn't with a clear concience invite my friends to such a site.

My first thought was to cancel, but what a shame after all the preparation and ground work that has been done. Another idea was to move it and after a call to Mike Hallam who graciously offered his pond and NLMBC prez. Randy Rapedius the decision was made.

Same great race, just 45 mins. further for some and 45. mins closer for others.

We are attempting to contact everyone personally but please pass the word.

Here's the location if anyone isn't sure:

Mike has told me anyone may camp on the grounds, no problem.

The Days Inn and Howard Johnson's are reasonable and close, the Super 7 is cheap and a little further, 519-681-7272.

If anyone has problems canceling motel reservations please let me know, I'll make it right.

Thanks for the update guys...

Do you still plan to have open water today or had the delay altered the schedule? Only reason I ask is for travel schedule purposes.

Best regards,

Mike Ball

Although I'm dead beat I'm very happy we got it all set up and ready to roll in the morning, thank's again Mike for offering your site, it wouldn't have happened without you.

It looks like a very nice weekend weather wise and we will not turn anyone away if you want to come in the morning. :)

Time for some sleep, see ya'll in the am...

Only had one of our own club members go to Waterford first, everyone else got the word in time!

Was windy from the south west most of the day but the beautiful TVMBC London pond stayed fairly flat.

NLMBC had 94 boats go through 3 rounds of 17 heats each, great work!

Two rounds tomorrow and we should be done by about 3pm, gonna be great race water, can't wait!

Congratulations to Terry Keeley and all the Northern Lights members who pulled off a great race. Two beautiful days of sunny weather with temperatures in the low 80's. Thank goodness for a bit of a breeze. Great raffle prizes and some nice looking trophies. Great driver's stand as well. Gives me some ideas to make our Northern Nats even better. Put this race on your calendar for next year, whether it be at their site or in London.

A great race put on by the Northern Lights Model Boat Club. Faced with a weed problem at their local pond, I can't believe they switched gears and pulled the race off at the London site without a hitch. Raffle prizes all day long, free lunch food and beverages left open to donations and a relaxed atmosphere. What more could you ask for? First class bunch of guys, putting on a first class event! Thanks again guys. I'd attend no matter where you host your race.

Ron
