Anyone on the east coast see the rocket launch this evening off the coast of Virginia?? Very Cool!

yes, kent called me about 10 to let me know. we were camping out front by the pond, great view away from any city lights!! went up late, kent said 11:15, i saw it at 11:28. reminded me of living in sanford, fl. watching the launches at the cape. was it just my perspective, or did the trajectory seem low for an orbit..........

She launched at 11:26. Probably not a bid deal for the folks who have seen the shuttle launch in Florida but it was exciting to see a night launch with clear skies for people in the mid Atlantic. She was brighter than I thought. Actually saw the first stage drop off. My sister works for Orbital in Reston where they manufacture satellites so it was a big deal for our family.

A satellite that will orbit the moon for about 100 days to collect data from the lunar atmosphere.

saw a replay on the news just now, looks just like what i saw as far as trajectory. i couldn't see it until it was fairly high, 'cuz of the trees. but still very cool to watch, & bright. hadn't seen a launch since high school in the later '60s in sanford, fl. it was about 70 miles inland from the cape, never saw a space shuttle. biggest i ever saw was prolly the old saturn 5.
