Hi All,

Looking for some input regarding prop selection for a VS1. I'm not too sure what power I'm going to be runnig, but it will be stock. Either an OS or K&B. I have a couple props already... x442, 1440, and an H5. Would one of these props work better than the other... If at all?

Thanks for your feedback,

Dean

The back cut 1440 works well for me K/B and I have run grims prop on the OS but have only tested once on the OS

My VS1 seems to run good with a x637.

Some say yes but if you want performance it needs to be very sharp. If the edge feels dull its NOT SHARP

Guys,

1440 B/C @ 2.57" of cup.

40 x 53 is not race ready stock.

Have Fun,

Mark Sholund

I took some of the cup out of the T/E on the 40x53 on my OS/Villain. (Winds out a little faster on the straights for me like this & = better lap times)

My son runs a OS on his VS1 and it is smoking with a GR 40X53 all I did was S&B it.

Ya The LHS's are derailed at the prices they want for the GR props. My LHS gave me that BS about them being S&B already.

Just so you know

The ABC 40X53 and the Grimracer 40X53 are not exactly the same props (this goes for all the Grimracer props). We challenged Jim to nail the bore on the prop the best he could on center. This gives it its best change of being balanced in bag stock forum.

Also: Our props go through a special finishing routine to help remove any casting flash and help reduce blunt edges.

Having said this: Its BEST to ALWAYS check the balance of ANY SPINNIG object if you are looking to get performance from it.. Be it boat props, airplane props, the wheels on your car, etc.

The hobby shop can tell you anything you want to hear but. But if you want the best performance from your boat.. just ask the great people here and they are more then happy to help.

At one time the X440 was the must have 21 OB prop in my box. Been replaced by the GR 40X53 for me now. Yes you may find some magic wheels out there but out of the bag, sharpen and check the balance this is a must have go to prop for a stock motor. Of the 3 I have, balance checked out perfect on all 3. Keep in mind the end game. Are you trying to run straightaway only or looking for heat wins?

I think the box stock 40X53 is a great prop to run on a stock OS (even on 50%) I have tried other props like 1440's from Mark, but none are as easy to drive and race than the 40X53...it is also a great prop for alot of other setups.

So, other than a little more finishing work, is there any difference in shape, pitch, ECT?????

or is it basically the same prop, just finished better for Grim Racer?

Rick,

Most important is center bore.. that is the TRUE differance.. the dia and pitch are the same.. having said this the 36x55 is our own design. (more to come)
