Just got done cleaning out a worm called blaster off of my home PC running windows XP. It started re-booting by itself. If you suspect you may have this worm, do a search on a file called MSBLASTER.EXE.

If you have the worm, it will show up in windows/system32. Go to microsoft for the patch. Your anti virus web site should have procedures on how to detect and clean your PC.

Good Luck!

do it before saturday as well cause that's what it is expected to start working!

Yep...I got it. > :(

Fortunately, it's just annoying...not destructive.

Any word on how it's contracted?

Info on the Blaseter Virus

The virus is contacted through the net. If you are on-line and have windows 2000 professional or newer and you do not have the patch from microsoft you will probably get it after 20-25 minutes after you are "on-line". This time virus exposure has nothing to do with e-mail or attachments or with pamela_nude-pic.exe files : :)

If your operating system is a dinasour like mine (98), then you should be okay - I hope ???
