HI guys i just got a white heat 4-60 kit complete and almost 50 years old....dont know if i should build it or try to have it copied....has any one done this before???....i built a whit heat 60 when i was a teenager in the 1960s....super tiger 65 engine but the washington dc reflecting pool hard walls to their toll on it....i have heard that this a popular hull with the vintage crowd ...please help me to do the right thing with this jewel

That is a good old hydro. I built a couple of those 4-60 back long ago. If you build it trace all the parts on to paper to make patterns go to a Staples or copy shop to make copy. If you want to do that i would like to get a copy.

How long were those boats?

the boat is 36 inches long...in is said to take a 45-71 engine....I dont know if it would take a modern CMB 67...but maybe a hot 45...i will be looking for someone to copy the kit and build mine....at 36 inches it seems small ....could it get inlarged by computer and then lazer cut????john ouy

It should go with a 67 ok. If you want to go with a gas motor enlarge the 36 inch boat 40% that will get a hull 50.4 inches long. The rule for size is 48-56"long, min 24" wide for a gas thunderboat.

Mike at ML could do the job for you. http://mlboatworksrc.com/

I just posted about this in the other thread, and about making it a laser cut kit. Some insight would be great! Mike

FYI Octura had this posted in Popular Mechanics in 1960 something have to check downstairs but I have the article and plans for this. Which will making this available of the public no issue. Will check but i think the one I have might be for the gas version with Ohlseen & Rice 1 hp motor.
