Boaters,

Wondering if a UL-1 motor set up would be the way to go?

Or something Better?

Need a platform to test Fast Electric Racing Propellers.

Need to keep up with the changing times in boating. :D

Any Advice On A Parts List Would Be Awesome, or anyone

have the time to build it up for me?

Thanks For Reading,

Mark Sholund

UL 1 motor will be the biggest market.

Swordfish 200amp ESC from here http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/ $100.00

is what I am running in my JAE rigger and sport hydro.

I would also suggest the 150 amp Eagletree data logger with brushless RPM sensor

And the 10mhz GPS for delvopment, you will be able to see a .10 pitch change quite clearly. abt $150.00

Keep the UL 1 below 90 ave. amps.

The data logger has serve me well for 9 years.

If you need more info PM phone #

Mark have a complete setup I don't have time to mess with. Every thing but the charger.

6XL 110amp motor 200amp controler 2 3cell and 2 2 cell batts 10000 mAh 20c.

Give me a call. we can work some thing out.

I'd go with the a better motor than the 6xl, a 2 pole motor, they are not very tolerant of incorrect propping, will heat up and de-mag. The ul-1 is a 6 pole motor.

The 6xl is pretty much a budget motor in todays terms of brushless motors.

If you don't go with a spec motor take a look at Nue, Castle or Leopard for in-runners. Pretty much the 3 top in current motors in that order. In Europe Lehners are popular. You don't hear much about the Hackers or clones anymore, old school although you can still go very fast with them.

For testing the Swordfish 200 esc will be pretty much bomb proof with these motors on 4s1p in a rigger.

Need some good high C cells to keep up with the amp draw so the batteries don't overheat and puff up.

Yes everything in an electric boat can and will go up in smoke at some point. Thats half the fun, wondering if the boat that worked fine last week will smoke itself this weekend! Even though no changes have been made! Sometimes they fry just because you plugged the batteries in!

Can't wait to see some test results, I think I have one of your props on my JAE 12, it rocks!

Mark,

If I can assist in any way, LMK. I've been building FE 30's and 34" Mono's for Insane Boats custys and have been recommending your props to these people. The spec (UL-1 motor) rigs like your H-5's for heat racing; a little aggressive for extended runtime/sport running. So far the Oct. 450/3 that you made for me some time ago works nicely on the mono running a Neu 1521 1.5D. Just blasts out of the turns !

Regards,

Tony

Tony,

I just don't have the time with doing everyone elses propellers.

I do need a test platform so I can get up to speed with this electric

stuff. Maybe we can work something out?

Thanks,

Hey Mark,

If you do build yourself a FE for prop testing. You should test with the UL-1 motor for the P-Limited "spec" guys out there, and a full P motor like the ones recommended above (Neu, Castle, or Leopard) 2000KV - 2200kv would be a good range for the P power class (4 cell lipo)

Check the for sale section on Offshore electrics. You can often find pretty good deals on equipment there too.

I agree with the others ... the UL-1 system is widely used for P-spec (limited) If I can be of any help send me a PM.

David,

I could use the ESC and I need a UL-1 motor.

I have a line on a charger and batteries already.

Thanks,

Mark,

We have been playing with Aquacraft UL-1 motors and controllers on 21 & 45 tunnels and I have to say a 4-S P-spec will run in the mod 21 tunnel class and may have an advantage due to very little loss of power in turns as electrics do not load like fuel motors. Stepping up to a straight P to my knowledge is like going from a stock OS to a Mod Nova and the P-spec is stronger than a stocker already. Pics of a 6S "Q" I am working on to run open tunnel.

Not a NEU 1515 but this setup should give you all you can handle learning. offshore Electrics sells the Aquacraft motor and controller with a water jacket for about $162 but the combo linked here will give more power

I agree with Sean

P-Spec Classes are going to be the most popular by Far.....

The UL-1 Motor is going to outsell all other motors hands down.....

I can help you out with any test platform you want as far as the build.

Let me know Mark.

Thanks Joe
