What is the least expensive, but still somewhat competitive engine for a twin rigger? Looking for an engine that will run well box stock in a twin application. What about CMB .80's?

Thanks.

CMB 80 HR's are really good engines and so are the 91 VAC's and they are very competitive and easy on parts. there also very reliable motors too. they will RPM. alot of people run VAc and 80 HR motors on Twins. Very few racers run 91RS or 101's on Twins but you have to be careful if not KABOOM.

I am not aware of any that will run 100 percent box stock. What size twin you are looking at?

CMB .91 VAC's can be run Box Stock.

Just take them apart and clean the flashing of the ports and rod big end oil slot.

After break in pull the factory installed shim out and slap the nitro to it.

David... there is not a single twin running that has not had a massage!!! But no one will openly tell you that they have had a Massage. :D :D ;)

Yes you are so true, But you don't have to do any thing to a CMB .91VAC if you do not want to and it will run very good.

while i think i understand your route you are going.. trying to make something as relable as possible without rapping a bunch of money in motors that arn't any good. if i am wrong let me know

the word TWIN and LEAST EXPENSIVE don't mix. lol

a word of advise.. just pick what motor size you want and send them to someone if you don't do your own motor work. you can save yourself alot of headache and money upfront. just because they are STOCK. don't me they are right or ready to go. seen that way to much.

just my advise take it as you like

No truer words spoken. :)

With that being said the current CMB 80HR's are excellent motors and will hurt the wallet the least in terms of fuel consumption. B)

I have won races with VAC91s out of the box.......... it is the Best Out of the box race engine that i have seen. Many other engine models need work...................... Steve Wood offfers the Best affordable engine work on todays current engines.... When he returns your engine it is clean & properly torqued Ready to Run.

My little Picco 80's are box stock  .

Craig

I would stick with any of the current motors and you will be more than competetive , 95 % of performance is set up pipe and prop as well as a good race proven boat.

If I can help in any way give me a shout , I would love to see more twins in D-1.

My 80HR Motors i had on my 1st RR Twin was 100% stock for the winternats but then got modified after that by Mr Wilfong and he did a great job. there where right at the tip of the spear.

I think you should use the 91rs from cmb, 0.017" head clearance and 25% nitro. Easy to dial in and will run every time, even if you drive very slow.

In my hydro, the vac vas good, but the rs was so much stronger and faster, no doubt.

The more head clearence you run ....The Leaner you will have to run the needle to get the engine to clean out? stk .014 head cleraence under 1000ft elevation is good!

Really ? This is surprising , what type of hull is it ?
It is an sgx, single, but is it so big difference from twin?

To litle clearance burns plugs and makes an unstable motor, leans out when you give full throttle and gets to ritch when you give less throttle, in my experience.

Pistion and combustion chamber look like brand new when you run with right headclearance.
