Mr Finch's saw rigger is a bad azz rigger maybe 110 mph today.A beautiful running machine

Congrats Dick

RCMK inline with Modified zenoah jugs. I just picked two jugs off the shelf and installed them on the RCMK bottom end. Don't even have the same timing. Hull is a Joe Mocerri widebody that had some bad habits as a heat racer but fits the bill for SAW. Total weight ready to run 17.2 pounds. The boat mold was destroyed so unfortunately you can't get one now. Joe builds a strong boat. This one has had many engines and in fact is the one that hit the bank at 100 mph a couple of years ago, was rebuilt over the following two days and then set the 30 cc record late on that Sunday. Tough boat!

Awesome ride for sure,Joe builds the best. BUT Mr. Finch you could set a record with a box of pop-sickle sticks and a bottle of coca-cola... Fine job

Thanks. It was a fun project. Funny you should say Pop-sickle sticks. That's what we named Kentley's f-hydro oval rigger because at oval trials I hit a buoy or flipped the boat and we glued it back together with all we had available..... pop-sickle sticks. When we broke the record that day we listed the hull on the record application as..... Popstick.

Mr. Finch, are you using standard 1/4 inch flex shaft or have you stepped up to 5/16. If you have stepped up to 5/16, can you tell me where you find it? Several people on the west coast , including me are building inline twins and we have concerns about the 1/4 inch flex shaft handling the extra power.

I build hardware that I have absolutely no doubt it would handle the power of the inline twins, but I'm affraid the weak link might be the 1/4 inch flex staft.

The 1/4 in shaft "IS" the weakest link with the Inline Twin...I think Andy Brown has some 5/16 shafts,he sent a couple to David Showers to run in his twin. I would give one of those guys a call if that is what you are looking for.(5/16 shaft)

I had no problem with the 1/4 shaft. I purchased it from Gismo because I had read that people were having problems and someone said Gismo was making a good quality shaft for the twin. I have had no problem with both the gismo and aeromarine 1/4 inch shafts in my gas boats. Never broke a shaft. Have ripped prop blades off, broken drive dogs in half, but no shaft problems. I run the same props with the twin as with my singles so prop size is not a problem. It is most likely the quick accereration and heavy weight of the average twin boat that cause shaft problems, but my twin is as light as a lot of single boats. So...........That is my experience. If you had a 25 pound boat and accererated fast I can see where the shaft may break, but I have not run that combination. 25 pounds is the weight limit in IMPBA and I have read some people have boats that heavy. My boat is right at 17 pounds 2 ounces.
