hi people i am intrested in learning about twin powerd nitro riggers, i am thinking about doing a twin and am wondering , how do you control the third channel needle when you have 2 engines, do you just use it and split it to the engine or do you adjust them individually? if you have pics that would be a big help to me and i thank you for your help.

In a Seaducer, Done by jerry Crowther, he adjusted both engines/needles at the same time, this was with a 3 channel radio.

he used 2 servos on a Y- harness. bad thing is, if you only need to adjust one engine you can't from the radio.

Now, I'm told the new Futaba 4PK is able to adjust 2 needles seperatly ((((((I don't know this to be fact)))))) just what I'm told

thanks for the help on that one, i use a m-11 4 channel so i might be able to do the same thing , i am not gonna go to the edge with it , but it would be nice to trim the mixture a bit on the water, thanks and god bless

Mark Bullard and I have been running twins for about 25 years. We have tried about every way possible. We tried to use a V-tail mixer control device from Ace radio several years ago where with one channel you could adjust each needle seperately and then lean or richen the needles together in concert. IT WORKED, BUT not practical. During a race we could not hear which motor was rich or lean. I have one of those devices and I will sell it to you if you want to try it.

Now we are using Bob Violet mixture needles. They are mounted on the center rail for the motors with the arms pointed towards the sides of the boats. We use one servo and it pushes one and pulls the other. It works great.

The main principal is to get every thing the same, same pipe length, strut positions, props, fuel and pressure lines and etc. THE SAME. Then adjust the needles manually on the bank and get the motors as close together and then launch and if they sound good richen or lean to see how the boat does. If you get them to sound together FLOW the needles and right the numbers down!!!!! This will give a place to go to if things get all out of wack!!!!!

Remember your numbers are your numbers and my numbers do not apply. I may have different flow meter, some mearsure resistence and others measure another way. Dr.T

First you must use a very accurate needle assembly. I have found Nothing Better than Bob Violet mixture controls. You can drag link them together, You can Push & pull them back-back. But there is No fix for any part not being in tune. A Good Twin must start @ the construction Process. Every single part must be matched together. After you obtain this, You must get your Twin Ears On & Fire each engine @ one time to get the same RPM & Needle setting. I would be listening for the same RPM in both engines. The most overlooked part of a twin is the throttles. The barrel valves on the carbs must be exactly together. Any oversight here & you got all kinds of problems. Water temp is another overlooked problem in a Twin ...... Good Air & Cold water is hard combo to tune for. You must make a little more heat than the water is taken away...... You can do this many ways..... I could write a Book a Tuning a Good Twin. Many things I have learned are from Seasoned Boaters that have been racing them forever & a Lot of Heat Racing... Gene Taylor one time said .....you Must to be able to read a Plug Perfectly & Hear what it is saying to race Twins with Success....... He was Sooooooo Correct...

WOW.. i really want to do this and it sounds like aserious undertaking.. thanks for all the help and i am sure i will be asking some more questions , as i said before i am not trying to set records , i just likke the sound of a twin so i may just get them close and say im good? not to blow anythng up , just to have fun. thanks alot , does anyone have pics of their setups?
