has anyone put a turboprop in a 1/8 scale hydro? i would do it in a heart beat but i don't have 5 grand. i think a prop turning at 90,000 rpm would smoke any ops or rossi. would it work? give me your feedback
 
I don't think you have the torque to spin any reasonable prop @ 90000 rpm. But may be with a 6:1 gearbox you can.

Those puppies put out between 20 and 150 lbs of thrust. The smaller one (about 4 lbs) spin up to a meager 154000 rpm ;D and put out 20 lbs of thrust. :D

Only problem is they consume about 12oz fuel per minute and the exhaust temp is around 1300 f. :(

Hot enough to melt the paint off of your competition’s boat 8)



I don’t think you can get them with a PTO I believe these are all low-bypass turbines.
