I have a 33" tug boat ( harbor style). round bottom. Not sure what size prop to use and whether to use twin props or single. going to use a pair of titan 12 turns in parallel and a 3s Lipo for power. Anyone using anything similar? had this sitting around for years so thought I would try it out for a retrieve tug.

Hey Mark, what I use for retrieve is electric power vee from Tower Hobbies. We just set a ball with fishing line attached inside the boat an run out an circle around the boat floating. Then pull both of them in. Not sure how the tug would work on pushing a boat in to the bank if its upside down full of water. Either way its a lot better than waiting for the wind to blow it in. A 10 lbs line is not enough for bigger boats. Good luck with the Tug

http://www.mackproductsrc.com/. Back in my early days I started out playing this scale model boats and learned that the large scale boats needed Power direct drive was unheard of. We all ran single or twin screws with transmissions with gear ratios of 2-1 or 3-1and props 1 1/2 - 3 inch. You could most likely go direct drive with a truck crawler motor, brushed or unbrushed 27 wind and higher. Check out the link above for package deals and check the web for crawler motors brushed would be cheapest way to go
