The last 2 times i have had trouble starting my boats.these are some newer engines with good compression as well as some older engines with good compression. new plug odonnel blue magnum 50% fuel unopened and an opened bought about 8 months ago. engines spin over good plugs light good.also when i first go to start these engines i spinn them for a few seconds then stop and pop them real quick with the starter and they use to fire second time. they are getting plenty of fuel as well. im stumpped.

This is happening to me all the time. It could be a whole lot of things: Too lean, too rich, leak carb, leak fuel tube, clogged fuel tube, leak needle or a few other issues.

If you have had the very same trouble with multiple boats, you have 2 common elements between them all. The fuel and the plugs. Try different brands and see if it continues. I doubt it will. I suspect fuel first.

This is happening to all my boats 4+ so far

Make sure your glow ignitor is -well- glowing the plug ....

Fresh fuel ? maybe ?????

How old is it ???

Very unlikely for everything to develop the same problem all at once........

Just my .02

Whats the outside temp? if below 50 get some lighter fluid and give the carb a small squirt before you fire it

Brian,

If you are using a power panel it may be that the starter motor is pulling most of the amps & nothing left to light the plug?? <_<

Don :)

Fuel is the common factor, could be bad.

and plugs...

I learned a lesson the HARD WAY. Actually I learned MANY lessons the hard way.

When you test at the pond and blow your boat over, water can come into the fuel system through the pressure line to the pipe. That little bit of water goes to the fuel tank and then when you are done with the day, you empty the fuel back into your jug. You would be amazed at how little water it takes to make fuel run terrible it at all.

Check this, and I bet this is your problem.
