We drive under the train trestle over I-5 many times where the train derailed this morning. Just yesterday afternoon we drove under the trestle to take our granddaughters home after they spent the weekend with us. Looking at the havoc created by the derailment, it is hard to believe that were weren't more deaths that the 7 confirmed. However, some of the survivors were critically injured.

I was hearing 6 fatalities earlier today, glad to read that it's only 3. Saw an article from the Seattle PI that said the train was doing ALMOST THREE TIMES THE TRACK'S SPEED LIMIT!!!!! The same article also said southbound I-5 will be closed overnight. The only questions now are were the speed sensors giving the high speed reading correct and, if so, was it the driver or a fault with the engines?

Latest update had the train doing 87 in a 30, just need to know which was at fault, engine or operator. Hopefully, everyone is recovering as I've not heard anything about that yet today

First run on that line it sounds like, you can see the 30 mph permanent slow order sign for that corner in some of the news footage, the normal track speed is probably 80mph. Maybe unfamiliar with the territory?
