I ran Rod Geraghty carbs for so many years this was never an issue. After changing to a CMB I broke throttle servo and linkages. Figured out it was caused by the hard stop on the full open carb in combination with the rubber motor mount. I figured out a simple solution . I just use a small section of music wire and bend a "U" shape in. See photo. It's probably something everyone already knows about but thought I'd share.

Thanks Eric, this is probably a good reason why a few people around my area are always complaining about small hitec throttle servo's and why they do not last. In any case, its a great idea to reduce the transfer of some vibration to the servo and as you found out, the throttle stop at full open pushing on the servo through the mount. Do you run a clamping collet or a square drive?

Went from Picco because ran out of parts, Was lucky enough to win the drawing in Hobart and cant believe I waited so long to go CMB power. Sent the crank to Scott for balancing, heat soaked piston and liner as per Jim Wilson's instructions set the deck clearance, put the CMB pipe on it and WOW! First motor I have had since the old Picco that has the torque I love in Sport boats and fast .

Jack,

I believe he is talking about the 46.

Hope Thing Are Good In SoCal?

Went from Picco because ran out of parts, to Nova Rossi. I got so frustrated with that POS and all the BS with them blaming fuel for the crappy metal they use in their Pistons that comes apart and destroyed 2 motors. Was lucky enough to win the drawing in Hobart and cant believe I waited so long to go CMB power. Sent the crank to Scott for balancing, heat soaked piston and liner as per Jim Wilson's instructions set the deck clearance, put the CMB pipe on it and the same fuel I had been running in the POS Nova Rossi that I dumped so much time and money into (still bugs me how dishonest Nova is to their customers selling pistons that come apart and then blaming the customers). and WOW! First motor I have had since the old Picco that has the torque I love in Sport boats and fast .
Been there and done that, Now I have CMB power also.

Try backing off your throttle settings on your radio, I set my linkage to wot then go to 90 * on the radio

I hope this helps

John

Still waiting for others to spill the beans on these so called POS nova 46's?

I heard of a taper issue on the pistona of early motors. I would say I have seen someone push them really hard to many heat race wins and even 2 way averages of 122+ MPH average at SAW and not seen any issue?

Just curious if others are ever going to chime in on this?

But I guess if you need to pull a new CMB apart and get the crank balanced and the piston heat treated then it must be the bomb ;-)

I hope they have fixed the piston issues in the 46dd. I need to be clear. I did not buy the motor from Ron . Ron recently contacted me and asked for the motor. Ron is addressing my concerns and has assured me that NovaRossi and he are concerned about this motor. My motor was an early production run . Ron could have easily taken the "it didn't happen on my watch " approach but didn't. I would not want my comments to negatively impact Ron.

No worries Eric. I think some just get a lemon. I am pretty sure the jacket is OK. Just needs to habe a small hole drilled in it, not a new one.

blaming it on fuel is also a cop out.

In the end, as long as you are happy now :)

John With a rubber motor mounts setting the endpoints that far down results it less than full throttle in order to keep the load off the throttle servo. Of course I set the ratio of servo arm to carb arm length to give maximum throttle resolution and use the end points to avoid hammering the servo. I do like to use a quality sub micro servo and find this simple trick makes them live.

Eric,

I am glad you reached out to me on your situation a couple of days ago. Seems like this has been going on since last year for you. I guess the person you spoke to was Glenn. Novarossi stands by their products and so does Novarossi Marine USA. I didn't personally sell you this motor, but as we mentioned via email, if you will box up what you have I will work with Novarossi to figure out how to make you happy. Initially the 46's in certain situations were too cool, so a "less cooling" button and cap were designed. The 46 was a new venture for Novarossi, and within 2 years these engines are winning races and breaking SAW records all over the world. I would say that is a HUGE accomplishment in such a short time. That kind of success does not come without a scar here and there, but if you will allow me, I will help correct this for you. I will send you a PM with my address to send the box of parts to so I can investigate this further for you. Thanks.

Thank you Ron. You are correct, I purchased the motor from Glen when he was out this way. I had contacted NovaRossi back then and all they did was forward my email questioning the pistons disintegrating . Glen had replaced one piston and liner and said he sent the first one that failed into NR . The second set only lasted a couple tanks of fuel. I appreciate you contacting me after the last time I contacted NR. I sent the motor off today and you should get it Wednesday. But unless they admit there was a problem that they found with the piston or liner and have fixed . I'm not sure much can be done. I'm 2 for 2 with the same failure. It looks like the pistons were sintered not cast. The piston starts to disintegrate that takes out the liner and bearings. I hope you have a solution and appreciate you reaching out to me to work a solution.
