How well I know that, and all hard working club members know that. But hard working club members account for about 5% of all club members on the roster

This sign came courtesy of one of my D12 clubs, ODMBA. I met Scott Liddycoat down there at the pond yesterday for a brief test session (holy crap it was hot and wickedly humid) and saw it on the back of the drivers stand. 100% SPOT ON!!!!!

Don, you're forgetting the other side of the coin.

How often are those that volunteer belittled, targeted for verbal abuse or run off by others? It does happen more often than many want to admit.

The wife and I left an organization we had belonged to for over a decade(in my case almost two decades), where I had held an office of some sort for almost the whole time, due to politics, jealousy and backroom deals. We both, after that, have declined to volunteer for a position in any organization and, even in boat racing, we see the wisdom in that decision.

Mark is right and so is Paul so many work and work and work then get critized by others that sit around do nothing plus the politics you can only take so much then quit

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helping out but, at the same time, I'm not going to take a bunch of crap from others over what I do or how I do it because it's not the way they or others would do it. Worse yet, I'm not going to get neck deep into something just to have someone else start rumors about what I did or didn't do so I would be discredited in some way. This has happened to me twice, once here, in the boating community and once in the other organization I referred to previously. After getting burned twice, it's going to take a lot before I get heavily involved in anything again
