Hello.

Wich is the best .21 pipe for a Nova Rossi 5 port and a JAE.21 rigger?

And were can I buy it?

Fredrik.L

MY 21 RIGGER worked well with an ops 3280 but you will probably get several suggestions.

I've got the same question so I hope that you don't mind if I watch.

Has anyone tried the Irwin/Cooper 21S pipe?

Glenn I hope will respond here to see what he recommends.

Here is what Glenn Quarles told me when I bought my Novarossi .21 5-port from him a few months ago.

Craig, the best pipe is probably the OPS 3280, but I don't carry them. The AB pipes work well (and look really cool!), but I haven't run them enough to know if they work as good as the OPS. Between the two different AB pipes I would pick the SS21. The Novarossi black pipe works good as well (run them on my monos and cat boats all the time and on my hydros sometimes) and are the least expensive of the bunch.

He is a great guy to buy from. I will be buying two more of these motors from him for a twin .21 project....

i think the new irwin/cooper s pipe, that i am having built, would be the way to go. pm me or call for details

The pipe that Chris and Steve Wood "Cooper" sells would be my choice. I have ran all the pipes listed above and this would be choice hands down if you are running a rigger/Nova. This pipe was designed after one of my S-pipes. If you are running a mono I would stick with the OPS pipe.

KP I wonder where I could get one to try?

I was trying to find a place to put this and here seemed like a good spot.

We had a swap meet in town today and Steve Ball showed up with a table of goodies. He had 2 OPS pipes made supposedly for .21 engines but not a 3280 but I couldn't find a number on the box to see exactly what it is. It's almost the same size as a Mac 1011 in the belly and stinger yet has a larger intake pipe made more for a .21. Steve and I banging our heads together thought that it could be used from .12-.18 engines or a .21 short pipe. It might just be a fun one to try on either my .12 or .21 JAE's.

OPS used to sell a slightly smaller pipe than the 3280. I think it was the 3270. The also sold a pipe slightly larger than the 3280 which as I remember worked well on a 21 at higher altitudes. Bob Murphy kept all three in stock, way back when. We lost a very good distributor when Bob passed on.

Thanks Al. The box only says 3,5 SPEED STD on it, no other info. I still want to try the Cooper pipe though. I've had some Irwin's in the past and really liked them.

There is still a foot and a half of ice on the pond up here, so it will be the end of April or early May before I can test again. I have seen other boats run really well with the version of the Irwin S pipe that CMDI used to sell but have never run one myself. OPS 3280 works really well with many hull configurations,It's pretty much the benchmark 21 pipe that others are judged by. I tested the CMDI billet RX on my Blackbird last summer and it worked very well, and also ran the billet ST version in my sport 20 on a 14.5mm crank 35+. I'm looking forward to this Spring to test the Wood/Cooper and the 3 billet AB pipes I have on my 5 port powered Blackbird and my 35+ powered Ninja. There are a lot of good 21 pipes, the best one will be the one that works the best for you on your boat with your setup...and the only way to find it is to test, and test, and test some more.
