It took a little longer than anticipated, but I recieved my 2010 Championship D12 Jacket for B / P-Spec Hydro earlier this week. Suffice it to say, most of us know who the best racers in the district are. And I'm keenly aware of the added effort the nitro racers put into runing their boats. So I will wear my jacket with pride and humility. I know we're only running toy boats. But given the talent in and reputation of the drivers in the district, it's still nice to be recognized among your peers.

Racing accomplishments aside, I'm most proud in the fact that I got at least a half dozen new members in the district last year and it looks like we're getting at least three or four more this year. I don't think anyone in the district can touch that. These guys are not just racing FE's either. More than a few are running IC boats also (including me). So for the guys that are pooh pooing the FE's, keep an open mind. The class you save may be your own.

Thanks again to Don for doing the job nobody wants, Carl & Tracy for letting me get my foot in the door, Dick Loeb for showcasing the FE's in Chesapeake, my mentor Doug Smock in D13, plus all the other club officers that supported letting the FE's run in the District.

I've got to work on my gas boat now. :)

Chilli, I could not agree with you more. I recieved my jacket in the mail today as well. I have been "on the hunt" for one for quite a few years now, and finally got one last year in one of largest classes in D12 (gas sport hydro). I know that there are a lot of people that were a part of helping me get this jacket. The guys (and ladies) in this district are good people, I have lost track of the amount of times that someone has answered a question when i was just starting out or just came over to me when I was doing something wrong and pointed out something that I should have had sense enough to know wasn't right. Chilli, is also correct about the caliber of drivers in this district, Heck I still talk about the one time that John Finch was on my tail durring a whole race at the first gas clash and if I knew it was him I most likely would have done something stupid and let him by. I am not gonna list all the names, you know who you are, and that's why I now try to help the new guys that show up at the pond, they are the future of the hobby and we need to nerture them so that they stay in the hobby and keep it strong.

I will thank the DD "Don" for doing a very thankless job, all the club officers who work there butts off to get races ready for us to come and enjoy. and the members of the clubs who come out and do the work to make the races a success.

Unfortunatly, I have trashed my knee over the past weekend and am off of work for a while while the Dr's are deciding how to go about fixing me up. It looks like I may not be doing much more racing the rest of this year since I am no longer working. Hopefully I will get fixed up and back to racing soon as possible. I will try to at least show up to enjoy friends and hang out if possible though.

thanks again,

Glad you guys are happy, it was worth the wait right? :)

Seriously that was the first time since I started using our current connection that we had any kind of delay and even that was beyond her control. We actually had picked the dark blue for the 2010 jackets back in late fall but by the time we got all the funds from the clubs, rounded up all the individual heat scores from every race to settle the tie in Classic Thunderboat and got each person's size verified they (the supplier) couldn't fill our order right away like in the past. Regardless she did an awesome job as always and other than the jackets Dick Loeb is taking to Greensboro to hand out to a couple class winners who will be there, the rest went out to their respective proud owners. Thanks again for your patience and good luck in your quest for another jacket in 2011. B)
