You refereing to the hard white teflon tube? Yes if they are used and setup properly never will fail. You should find a size close to what your pipe header is and use some heat to soften up the teflon then it will press over your header, you can use a metal hose clamp too. i found that if you use a wire brush and make a spiral on the pipe header you can twist the pipe to change lengths eaisly, it will screw it self in and out of the coupler.Has anyone used these, and how much trouble are they?
Iused a gas torchThanks guys. I used a 975 degree heat gun to install on the pipe after drilling the Teflon (yes the white hard one) closer to pipe od. The coupling will slide on the header. This stuff is a pain in a-- to work with. Tried boiling and no good. That's why I used heat gun. Looked up Teflon on puter and found it has a 600K melting point.

It will fume if it gets hot with a torch.No. Teflon never smoked.
Thanks for the tip Mike.Ron you need to find some super coupler. Mike Hughes used to sell it. Its not rigid, im afraid if you used teflon in a outboard setup it would start breaking pipes
