I wanted to know who runs teflon liners inside the brass tubing. Some people I spoke to don't run them, others do. What's best?

I would have thought the teflon liner would be better, less drag.

Do I need to have one? What's faster?

I was thinking of putting a stub at the top of the stuffing tube for an oiler and putting a few drops down it before each run.

Does anyone do this?

Mark,

Make sure you use an S turn in the stuffing box or the teflon liner will spin on you, causing lots of heat that will melt the teflon bind upt the cae and very possibly break it not to mention damage to your hull.

I have run teflon with no trouble with S bends. Took one out of my coyote rigger to replace it after 5 yrs, it's still good, put it back in.

Like everything else your choice. Just remember the S bend in the stuffing box.

I know quite a few that do run teflon aswell, however I've also seen the teflon melt and cause some serious issues.

The oiler idea is not a bad one for sure. That or use a good lite grease. I was using Lubriplate #3000 tacky/moly grease but it's black and can leave a boat looking nasty. I switched to Lubriplate #115. It's white in color, holds up far better, and don't look near as bad.
