I had a heads up from a guy that was running the .61 supertigre carbs this one

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXFW10&P=Z

on the 21 macs and said they worked well.

I have deleted the pm and now cannot find it so i have a question for anyone that knows about these carbs or carbs in general.

To make this carb fit i need to rotate the fuel inlet nipple which inturn rotates the spray bar about 30*.

The material around the spray bar is not round but rectangular in shape.

I am trying to find out if this would would o-k this way or if by turning the spray bar and making the obstrution in the carb greater than what it was ,,would it still work o-k.

If the aussies or anyone using these carbs or knows carbs could help it would be appreciated.

Terry,

The stock carb on a Mac 21 or Valvola 21 are all you need for that set up.

If you are going to change carbs from stock, you should look at the O.S. carbs.

I am sure one of Frank Orlic carbs would work well on that motor, and he is in Canada

just West of you.

Take Care,

The ST 61 carb is good carb for a .21 but you can't rotate the spraybar and expect it to work OK.

Thanks guys for the heads up.I don't particularly like the mac carbs and this one has been modified for the better but it will try it again.I have the 20j and it wont fit the fuel nipple is in the wrong spot and the throttle arm hits the engine mount and neither can be modified to work in this boat.

just looking for options and the supertigre would have fit well but again the nipple is in the incorrect spot but can be rotated.

I've been watching the Tower website on and off - for those carbs, for a few months now, and the expected delivery date seems to be rolling. First late May (I think), then late June etc... Now late September. That's unless they have received stock and sold out again in-between times.

I have one and am wondering about rotating the spray bar ...not when towers can get them but yeah they have been out for a while.

I am still learning and sometimes we only have 2 guys at the pond so to start the thing, pinch off the line , keep it revved up with one hand while you install the cowl and launch it with the other is a pain in the butt.

I tried last year earlier this year and now this time around and what a hassle.

I cannot see any advantage of NOT having the lsn but like i said lots of post but still newbie.

I have the supertigre fitted and will see how it goes this weekend and if it doesn't work out for me then back to the mac i go.Most of the guys i talk to do not like the mac carbs also..

One thing to think about.. When using a racing engine like one rod builds you’re Idle (for lack of a better word) is more like 1/4 throttle. The motor should be really buzzing during pit time.

Jon , now c'mon why would i Want to trade a stock one for one modified to be more user friendly than the stock .

Did my avatar say SUCKER somewhere.....lol....

I will get it sorted out eventually I have other issues that more than likely were causing some grief..

hi there terry i have raced 21 hydros in australia for a while now, never seen a thunder tiger carb on a mac 21 , most guys in oz use the mac standard or boured out carb to 9.8 ml , a cmb ls black carb or os 20 j or g and also os 21 d carbs have been used 10 ml ,, hope this helps jase.. :)

I am one of the lucky few, who have got test a new 21 carb from Charles Perdue called the ZOOM-21!

This carb not only looks great, but work like nothing you have ever seen before. Better idle, launch, acceleration, & TOP END. I gained over 2 mph after changing from the stock black cmb carb, and no other changes. Charlie will have to tell you when they will be available. Charlie?????

Don :)

Thanks guys for the compliments.

Several years ago I just wasn't satisfied with the performance and driveability of the RC boat carburetors that were on the market. I tried a lot of different carbs, stock and modified and just wasn't pleased with them.

I designed and built a very sensitive flow bench (accurate to 3 decimal places) to test the current carbs and tried to modify them so they would work better. I still wasn't satisfied.

After months of making and testing prototype carbs, I took what I had learned and combined it all into one carb. This is called the ZOOM carb. It works very well.

It has been extensively tested and proven in competition by some of the top boaters in the world in SAW and heat racing.

The first carb of this series to be released will be the ZOOM 21. It fits the Nova Rossi, MAC, CMB and others with a carb mounting bore size of .590.

Other carbs for different size engines will follow shortly.

Mark Sholund at Props 4 U will be handling the retail sales.

Happy Boating, Charles Perdue

Charles & Boaters,

I can't wait until you have enough of them ready to sell.

We have had some interest overseas, and as you can see here in the U.S.A.

it should be a good market for a quality piece. Some other sizes may be:

12, 45,and possibly a new gas carb. These are very nice carbs that work

extremely well on everything that they have been tested on so far.

Thanks For Reading,

Mark Sholund
