i purchased a new speedmaster rudder assy. for this boat do i need to shorten the rudder or keep it the stock length

I imagine you will end up cutting an inch off but run it full length first. If the boat is too tight cut a little at a time off but not more than an inch

Your there should be a good prop start the pipe at 11 1/2

Just wondererd, Thought Vegas was higher in elevation. I moved from Sacto. Ca. (77 ft elev. To Ogden, Ut. 4,500 ft. elev.) What worked well in Sac. (x457/2) would get the boat up on plane immediatly/w 20% nitro. Made a lot of changes to the boat That I thought were for the better. But it fell flat on its face w/ a x-455/3 at this altitude and would not get up on plane. I may have been too rich on the needle as I didn't want to toast the motor. Let me know how things go in Vegas. Thanks', Glenn

Steve and John always ran the longer rudder blade on the scale hulls. Its no longer in production. I would think the std Speedmaster 60 sized tapered blade would work fine. The boat has a pretty tall rise in the afterplane, and needs a pretty long blade.
