Steering push rod angle

Do you need to have the steering push rods running level from the servo to the outboard steering arms, can you get away with some drop or angle from the outboard steering arms down to the servo.

I use a pull pull cable arrangement on both of mine to make height adjustments to the motor easier. Having said that, I can't see a bit of an incline or drop having much effect for you.
 
I don't think I've had a boat where there isn't a drop from the motor to the radio box...

I can't see a problem with it.

Just make sure you use 440 rod.

Not a problem at all. I stiffen up my 4-40 rods by epoxing aluminum tube over the threaded rod. You could use carbon tubes too. I had a 4-40 rod bend on me, after the mod, so far no problems.
