what is the big difference between the two....dose the turbo plug make more hp and better performances then the standard plug....thinking of change my Go's to turbo plugs i have two turbo head buttons just siting around for my Go's ....wich do u guys prefer?

More power. Especially on .12's and .21's. I'd say 3% to 5% more power. Maybe up to 10% more power under the right conditions.

i have heard they seal and last longer....but wanted to know if they make more power as well got a brandnew Go that i bought from local rc boater that got the motor from marty davis!:)

James,

That engine did NOT come from Marty, it was mine. At the 2012 IMPBA Internats inhaled something through the engine and scored the piston. Marty and I changed out to a new P&S and ran it for the remainder of the race. It was run with the standard plug and his own boat also ran the GO with the standard plug. We did not use any turbo plugs during the race. But the engine you got from Mike came directly from me.

o my bad....ok correction came from john...lol.... john i do have a ? then this exhaust port seem to be higher on this on then my other Go i have....can u tell me how old this version is that i got do u recomend leaveing it standard plug?

James,

There have been many debates on this forum regarding whether or not the performance gains of a turbo plug is worth the more expensive plugs. You should run a test and tell us what your results are. It's pretty easy to change out head buttons at the pond, as long as you measure head clearance before hand so everything is ready to simply bolt on. I did this test on my JAE novarossi .21 a couple years ago and gained 3 mph with the turbo plug head.

James,

The engine is a 2011 model with a newer 2012 P&S set. We did not change the porting or timing as we in the middle of a race and was left stock. I believe Mark Leyde had GO change the timing slightly but cannot say exactly. I also put new bearings in it too. It ran quite well with the standard plug but did not test it with the turbo head.
