The custom machined pipe mount system with its 5/8" OD X 1/2" thick isolation mounts has been completed.

Thanks Guys,

I made this to prevent supporting the pipe in one of its weaker areas, the stinger. The adjustable stinger on this pipe is a very thin (.023" thick) stainless steel tube.

I sure do appreciate the pictures of what you've come up with as well as the reasoning behind the pipe support. Will file this away for future reference.

Thanks,

Jim...
Very nice part...but looking at the pics..how is the band clamp attached to the new machined part..

Carefully look at photos P5140005 & P6130094. There are two 3/32" diameter holes visible on the upper inside of the two curved parts of the mount. They are drilled so that their OD's break through the inner bracket's wall. Two 3/32" pins, which are silver soldered to the ends of the adjustable stainless steel hose clamp, are pressed into each hole. You would be surprised at how much force can be exerted on the 3/32" X 1/2" long pins without breaking the silver solder joint. Notice the hard rubber gasket between the hose clamp & tuned pipe.

Robert,

I'm a retired ME & tool maker. I worked as a tool room foreman for Honeywell International for 27 years. Built record setting nitro engines & any hardware required for a model boat. I recently moved to Suffolk, Va.

I sympathize with your move Jim. My wife and I moved from San Clemente California to Vancouver Washington this past June.

Only problem up here is it’s a 120 mile drive to go boating. There are lots of lakes up here, but most of them no longer allow 2 cycle engines.

I didn’t move my CNC mill into my garage this time.

My wife decided she didn’t want me tracking chips into the house so I leased a 1200 sq. ft. shop and since I got that much space I bought a conventional mill and a small conventions lathe.
