For some of you old timers......
Two of my best long time model boating friends and I will be joining up for a fishing trip at lake TOHO near Orlando next week.
Ed Lackey, Gregg Huey and I will be the crew. Gregg's daughter is playing in a College Softball Tournament in Orlando and Ed Lackey lives over in Cocoa Beach. Ed has been trying to decide to go Pro Bass Fishing for several years to the expense of his model boating. He stopped racing hydros several years ago as did Gregg.
For those of you who don't go back very far in this hobby, Gregg Huey was the guy that I sold Crapshooter (Precision Boat Mfg) to in the early 80's after working for me for several years. He was a fierce competitor and a real craftsman. Lackey might have been the best overall model boat racer that I have ever seen in all the years that I have been in this hobby. If he got the start, he would only go fast enough to keep you behind him. He almost never made a mistake on the course. Loved racing him! That is where the phrase "Never show a quarter when a dime will do" came from.
Do you think that there will be a lot of stories told next week..... YOU BET, CAN'T WAIT. Probably some fish catching too. Might be a little competition between us.
