The racing has been intense and outstanding. Randy Premo, John Otto and Jeff Whiddon are leading the tunnel group - to no surprise of anyone. Joe Warren is doing exceptionally well in his hydro and mono classes. Buckshot is right about Doc Turner and his 21 JagIII he bought from Steve Ball. He is leading the class. Eric Lis, Wayne Farrow, Ross Medina are also doing well in the gas classes. I know that I have forgotten some other great performers so far but I am washed out after 4 very long days at the lake.

So far Nub Kopisca has the fastest boat recorded on radar with his twin nitro monster of 82 mph during the heat racing. Joe Warren had the second fastest so far at 79. The twins are just chopping up the water to an unreal amount. Some big name racers are having some challenges and bad luck which just goes to show even the best can have poor days.

We had a 1.5 hr delay this morning due to a huge fog bank that rolled in. We almost finished the 3rd round today and that will be finished early tomorrow and we will get in the 4th round. Weather has been perfect with the exception of the fog this morning. Great air, cool temps and very hot racing.

We know and are disappointed that the web broadcast had not happened so far due to an issue with Sprint and the bandwith needed. They think that the broadcast will be on line tomorrow for the finish of the race.

So what happen to all these big twin riggers doing 90mph+

or was that a miss type and the fastest 21 riggers were going 79-82mph, ..lol

cheers Luca

They're always faster at the prctice pond. It's great to see the .21 Jaguar III leading the way. All I have to say is Bob Ferguson builds an exceptional boat.

Talked to Foley a few minutes ago , but he was busy loading up.

Will talk to Premo here in a bit and see if I can get some results.

From the sound of it though, it was good times/good weather and good racing once again B)

Luca those speeds on a race (79-82) are speeds taken on an angle relative to the gun. They actually represent maybe 83-86 mph true straight speeds maybe more. Those boats are capable of doing in excess of 90 mph with the correct props and trim which is different than race trim most of the time. If you don't believe me come to Knoxville and I will show you. I claim 85-86 mph straight into the speed gun (race trim) and I can prove it, I got witnesses.

Imagine that a cat won the .21 hydro class just happened to be a Jaguar and not the other cat.

I totally agree with Jose. The water conditions in Charleston is among the very best in the country. Big lake, soft sloped banks and crystal clear water. However when you have 6 twin monsters, in HEAT RACING conditions, churning up the water, the speeds drop every lap. I was running a Crapshooter 90, with a CMB 91HR in the F Hydro class against mostly twins, and I was being thrown around like a ping pong ball. There is a HUGE difference between heat racing and SAW racing.

As for the results, they will posted tomorrow for all classes.

Imagine that a cat won the .21 hydro class just happened to be a Jaguar and not the other cat.
Same boat won this year as last (Jaguar). This year driven very well by Gary (Doc) Turner. He dominated the class.

Many really good running .21 hydros this year.
