Damn,

why do they sell this stuff at a hobby shop??? I used a little dab about the size of a quarter to seal where I ran my antennae wire through the radio box. I put the receiver about 4 inches away from it. The chemical reaction or the odor caused the "j" plugs of the servos to bind together and eat into the power panel. You would have thought they were crazy glued in. Destroyed an FM Futaba receiver pulling it apart. CRAP!

I've been using Shoe Goo for years and never had any such problems. I love the way it will stick the Sullivan fuel tanks. I have never closed up my radio box before the goo cured, maybe that is the difference.

WOW are you sure it was shoe goo?

I have used this one radio boxes before and never had a problem like that.

I use it to seal open servoes as well.

and i aply it heavy.

Regular RTV will do that to electrical components but I use shoogoo on every thing with no problem. I even encase servos in it and run them exposed.

If the stuff has an ammonia smell to it, don't use it! That stuff will eat up circuit boards and other electrical parts. I use Household Goop and have had no problems with it.

oh crap, it wasn't the shoe goo I grabbed, it was the Automotive Goop. Guess that's why it happened.

Don't you hate that?

Hi Guys!

I use a few drips of wax from a candle to seal non critical things like antenna wires. Easy to apply, easy to remove.....

Bob the Fool

Rod, there is another one out there called Plumber's Goop that will work also.

Bob, we used to have a thread in here called "Neat little tricks" before one of the re-do's on this site that stuff like that would have fit in there. Maybe we need to bring it back.

Thats what we need, is the NEET little tricks. There is SOOOOOOOO Much stuff i dont know about, and theres probably Soooooooooooo much i have come across that some others havent. I mean the candle wax, thats a good idea.

Something or a thread, would be a good time to do it.
