At my advanced age I'm still a rookie at building motors. I have a new .67 Greenie with .017" head clearance. I ordered a couple sets of shims from Steve Wood. One set for under the liner and one set for the head button. I understand if you shim under the liner the port timing will change. What I'm working with is a Velasco hull that is not overweight and balances 1/2"behind sponson transoms. Plan to set clearance @ .012 Any comments would be helpful.

Thanks,

Glenn

Sounds like you are there,I have found the more you mod a scale engine the harder it is to finish. I run my 67 greeny at .017 and a long pipe setting 12 1/4 to 1/2. Comes off the corner and pulls most of the way down the straight. Dont over prop it or run lean these motors love fuel. 5/32 tank lines and big tubing

Agree w mike. Greenie doesn't need any timing changes for scale

Very forgiving and easy to needle the way it is. I like 16-17 clearance using Keeley head gauges.
