we held our club meeting tonite (thursday) and it is final, the pond was sold, so the october race is canceled, we are looking to find another pond to race in. the SGRA CLUB MEMBERS would like to thank everyone that supported us for the last 30 years.

Jeff,

Sorry to hear that. Done alot of good racing for many, many years there.

I will allways remember those Hyd. Invitationals. We knew it was only a matter

of time with the way building was moving in around the pond. Good luck

on your search.

What a sad day! :(

I have a lot of fond memories racing at that pond. I'll always remember the fun time we had at the Internats there and all the Hydro Invitational races.

Best of luck to the SGRA crew.

Sorry to hear about the pond Jeff. WE always had great races at SGRA. You had the most unique trophy, THE MAN trophy, in the country. I have 2 or 3 of them. I believe I have raced at 4 different sites of the SGRA in the past. The earliest was the lake with the island in the middle. Bob Murphy would cook jumbalya and would always give 4 or 5 OPS motors away as prizes. Then it was the KOA pond. That was where this guy showed up with PICCO motors in the trunk of his car and was selling them and that was Art McMeans. Then on to the present pond but the course was layed out in the short end of the pond. Then the present, now past site.

I am sure you will find another pond and build the club back. Keep us posted on how you are coming along in locating another pond. Good Luck Doc

Hate to hear it Jeff. Many Thanks to Richard, Danny, Virgil, Chris, Jeff, & All of the Members of the SGRA over the years for the Good Times we had down in Lousianna Eating & Racing! Great People & a Good race site. You guys pulled off some Top Notch races. Hopefully the new site can be found. jw

Sorry to hear about you guys loosing the lake. Lots of great racing went on at that site! Last time I was there was the 1989 Internats. The course was set up at the south end of the lake. After some of the heats when the larger class hydros were run the banks outside of the corners looked like parking lots! And then there was that guy who decided to swim across the lake while a heat was being run and ended up getting locked up in a Porta Potty................PRICELESS!

Ever see the movie " Love Liza"? The lead character shows up in Sliddel at a boat race and dives in the lake during heat racing.
