I am completing an SG 45 build and ready to purchase the driveline components. Is it best for the strut or the engine to take the thrust? I've seen square drive components and round and getting a little confused which way to go. The engine I am using is a Novarossi 46DD, thanks for the help, never set a rigger up before.

Regards,

Norm

Thrusting on the strut should yield superior bearing life. Regardless of the drive line set up you choose, you will most likely be very pleased with the performance of that combo...Nova 46 strapped to that Eagle SG Rigger.

Here's a link where some ideas, views and examples where shared for your consideration.

Good boating,

Elias

Using a square drive is always preferred for engine bearing life, but I am 99% sure most CMD riggers are set-up to push off the engine. It will affect the handling, so I would set-up for for collet and push off the motor before you switch to a square drive and push off the strut.

Thank you for the replies, the thrust point never crossed my mind but makes sense.

I am looking to order the parts required for the driveline. In the parts that came with the boat there a two of these brass sleeves but do not fit inside the strut. Please take a look at the pics, am I missing something?

Thanks for the help as I have never set one of these up before.

Regards, Norm

Can anyone please suggest the best quality shaft coupler for the Nr46dd please and shaft thread size.

Thank you, Norm

What size is the shaft log? 5/16" brass tube is for 1/4" cable and 1/4" brass tube is for 3/16" cable and the shaft bushing should slide in. The tube should be to the end of the strut. With the 46 3/16" cable will work fine but anything bigger will need 1/4" cable.
