servo tape residue help taking it off

how can i take my foamy servo tape residue off my boat, i got it used are there any chemicals to take it off w/ out messin up the paint!

Try water first, it might loosen it up. If that fails try wd-40 or denatured alcohol but test them on the paint first.

I use Goof Off. It can be found at your local hardware store. Works great. If the paint on your boat will handle high nitro then it will have no problem. It will take paint off if you just use Krylon or the like. What usually I do is put some radio box tape down before the double sided tape. That way you just peal up the tape and your done. This works great when adding stick on weights to your tunnels. They seem to come loose every now and then. It is an easy fix.

The best and I do mean the best we have found is made by 3-M.. it can be bought at Wal-Mart and is called adhesive remover..

Its about 5 bucks a can and worth every penny. It comes in a black pint can and has the trade mark yellow checkered pattern on the can.

Even better yet.. Avoid the problem by first laying down a layer of radio box tape (the good stuff by speed master/3-M) and foam tape to that.. Next time you go to pull the part you just pull off the servo tape and all is clear. It really works..

After much experimentation, Ronsonol lighter fluid works Great!,,, and doesn't hurt the paint, or plastic, like Goof Off will,,, also good for removing gum on clothes, haven't tried other brands, but I assume they work as well. Also, Coleman fuel, a bit stronger, it will take off paint.

Since WD-40 is not a lubricant it works well removing tape residue and old bumper stickers.

I vote for WD-40 too, if you let it soak for a while it will fall off.

WD 40 does work well. But I found a very good one at Walmart, it's called GOO GONE, made specially for removing stuff like that.

Yep, WD40, let sit a minute and then a thumbnail scrape and it gone,If you plan to put more tape or stickers,wipe with a washcloth (shop rag now) and Isopropal first.

Used to use the wife's wash cloths but her eye brow went clean off the top of her fore head when she found the goo spots :
