I scratch built a scale trailer from Newton plans years ago and it has been painted three times to match the boat colors. Presently Budweiser racing red.

Trailer tilts or remains flat, double axle scale wheels from a toy truck.

No, I wouldn't do that. Unfortunately it is an oversized box because the trailer is over 49" long. I'm not sure I can find a box long enough. Weight is not bad though.
