i am geting a prather spitfire II and i was thinking fe. then i got to thinking i wanted a saw boat an why not a o/b. and then i got to thinking why not a 20+ year old o/b rigger ,i always did like to be diferent lol. but what i was wondering is would this even fall into a class in impba or namba. iv been looking but the only thing i could find was on total performace that says the record still stands for this boat at 66 mph as a nitro. so if anyone knows what class these used to run in or would be in if any it would be a great help to me thanks guys.

I'm going to be turning my Spitfire I into an FE as well. I run in IMPBA (D. 12) and this O/B rigger can be run in B-Hydro (P-Spec) with the nitro boats. I'm going to run the UL-1 motor/ ESC combo for it to qualify under P-Spec rules....

Hey Doug! So, I can't run this in B-Hydro???? Robin Stebbins runs a 20 nitro Sundowner O/B rigger in B-Hydro and it is pretty much identical to the 20 Spitfire I have except I would be running FE.......I'm not clear on why I wouldn't be able to run it in that class...??? :(

I do understand that (so far in the rules) Mark's Spitfire II (7.5) would not fit the current classes.....Hopefully this will change for you Mark....

thanks for the help guys.i guess the best thing to do is get it going ,set a record and wine and mone till they do somthing lol

Yup! Let everyone see for themselves. ;) IMO, My nitro Spitfire is still my favorite hydro I own...just a little outdated, but I'll get her amped out!! :D Let us know what you do with her Mark....

Mark I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. You can't run for records if the class doesn't exist. And in a case like this, "they" is you. ;)

Regardless, it sounds like a cool project. But If you're serious about records, put a nitro powerplant on it and go for it. B)

Kent, Talk to the D12 guys. Having never seen one run, I'm too ignorant to even have an opinion.

Good luck fellas!!

oh ya i will keep everyone posted.and whats the worst that could happen? mabey the return of the o/b rigger????

only time will tell.i know there are a lot of them out there yet, heck you can still get a new one. i think there should be a vintage class for boat hulls over 20 years old

ya you right but if you want a new class then you have to lay down a challenge. i mean come on how do you think the fe class,s got started.just becuse someone says no once dosnt mean you have to stop talking or going for what you want, it just means you have to try harder and in the worst case i will go to namba there already have a nitro class for o/b hydros mabey they will go for a fe class also

Thanks Doug! There is nothing ignorant about you bro..... Oh yeah, not to jack Mark's thread, but, Did you ever try to send your record setting Rico setup pics to me? ;) If so, I never got them....

Mark, the vintage class would be cool! Not sure if they would have any room for that with all of the regular race heats w/ FE already being added to the list.....Neat idea though!! :D

Kent;

I think Doug is talking about straight OB hydro class.

D12 as you know, we run FE P Spec along with 20 hydros.

Don't see why you can't run an OB FE P Spec Rigger. After all, it IS

a hydro.

Carl

Mark check out the link to the records I posted. The IMPBA has A-F Nitro O/B Hydro classes.

Get them running guys, you never know!!

Thanks Kent. I'll send the pics out the first of the week. I've been busy helping out the Mrs. :D

Doug

yep i saw it and thanks. the only reason im going with fe is i have all the stuff to do it lol. it might get my k&B someday if i vere get bearings for it lol

Carl...thanks for the reply...Are you running FE next season? That would be very cool! :)

Thanks Doug....No sweat....The Mrs. always comes first... ;)

Mark....keep your plans bro....run her and don't look back.....get some heads turning in your direction bro!!! :D

Mark, I looked through the rules last evening and was unable to find a reason why you couldn't run a FE O/B in the Hydro class. I wrote Randall Thomas and he agrees.

Go for it, it will be interesting to see how fast you can make one go.

Good luck,

Doug

The boat is still a hydro so as long as the power source meets the P-Spec guidelines there's no reason you can't run it in the B/P-Spec hydro class. B)

after looking at the spec,s i will probly run in the P-Q class, most likely p i dont think i have a shoehorn and enoph KY to make a 6 cell lipo fit lol
