I have a 39 inch mono hull with a K&B 7.5 motor. It came with an Octura Strudder, and it skips around in the corners. I was told that I should get a rudder that is offset to the right side. Any suggestions on what to buy? How long should the rudder be and how far extended from the hull should it be?

Thanks!

What kind of hull if it is something other then a seaducer get speedmaster, if it is a seaducer you need to get his hardware Robert

Yes, would need to know what hull you have, picture of the transom with current setup and maybe would could help you out.

Thanks for the replies. The hull is a Steve Muck Spartan Streaker. Here are some pics from when I built it last year:

Octura does make an right offset rudder that would mount to that strutter bracket like you have there.

Very nice boat. Where did you land this? It looks brand-new.

I have the same hull powered by a (circa 1988) Rossi R65 marine, very fast, and handles beautifully.

I'm using (at the time) Youngblood or Tidewater hardware (rudder assy, etc.,...).

The strut is set-up sub-surface (like yours), with 5/8in drop parallel. I forget what Octura prop size. But you can start with X447.

I have Marine specialties skegg front-edge positioned at CG (center of gravity). Also use a spin-fin mounted on the transom right-side.

Thanks! It is pretty much brand new! A friend of my Uncles bought all the parts from a hobby shop in Orlando, FL in 1987. He never got around to building it, and gave it to me last year! He knew he'd never get around to building it and didn't want it to rot away in his garage. He knew I would build it, which I was very happy to do. This is my first boat, and I think I did a pretty good job building it. It hasn't sunk yet, haha!

It came with a x450 prop that after running I was told was a bit too big for it. I do have a x447 on it now.

yeah, I also run a Youngblood 45 size mono, manufactured from the same time-frame as the Muck Streaker. It's powered by a OPS .45 Marine, pushing an X447 prop, it is very fast and stable.

I believe I'm actually using a an X450 on my Muck Streaker (powered by Rossi .65 Marine. It is very fast and balanced as well.

When I get a chance I'll post more images

guys, sean is new to nitro boat ,please give him as much advise as you can with this mono , such as, motor , pipe ,pipe length, prop size strut height , or anything else I forgot to put down. thank. jeff.

If you would like to convert the boat to a more modern "surface drive" I have a complete set of Speedmaster hardware for a mono or I have some extra turn fins for a 7.5 mono if that's all you want.

I bought a rudder from Zippkits for it. I think I'll keep the drive the same for now.

The crankshaft broke when I ran it on Saturday, so I have plenty of work to do on it now! haha A used CMB 45RS is on the way!
