Agreed Steve. I've used the 358 as well with excellent results. However, I've used the Futaba 3305 and thought this might be a good choice? sport 40, 20/40 hydro, maybe even a good mono servo.

that might even be overkill for a .21 boat......my seaducer sd3 33" mono & .21 jae do fine with hs225 mg's.

I had a 258 and it lasted 3 boats and 10 years. When it died it was prop my fault......

The very first 258 I had the wiring was oposite for the radio I was using. Electronics sure stink when the wires get crossed. Lol

I have one of these in in my 21 outboard (probably a little overkill) and another in my gas rigger and Im very happy with them. Both have been flipped pretty hard and no issues yet...

I think it would be overkill for a 20 mono / hydro mainly because of size / weight. Probably ok for a 40 and up though.

when it comes to servos i do overkill, comes from the old days when you had to have 2 servos inline to turn a hydro

Well then what is a good servo to use for rudder for a 1/8 scale hydro? Please use brands names, servo number, and torque ratings. Rookie here not familiar with all the terms yet. Thanks.

Futaba 3305 @ either 4.8 volts(99 oz-in) or 6 volts(124 oz-in), standard high torque MG at $32.99. This is the one I normally use

Futaba 9405 @ 6 volts(100 in-oz), water resistant MG coreless at $64.99

Futaba 9151 @ 4.8 volts(132 in-oz), water resistant MG digital at $99.99. Have one of these to try out in my Executone

Since all I use is Futaba, I can't really recommend other brands due to lack of knowledge and experience with them. The prices listed are from the Tower Hobbies website

Like Steve Wood-I liked the 94358 Airtronics 200 oz in @ 6 V They are extinct now but Airtronics offers a digital MG std servo at the same or higher torque ratings.

I'm an Airtronics user myself. Considering using one of the following servo's for rudder control on .45 - .80 sized outriggers:

94671 Torque at 6.0v: 208.0oz-in, Speed at 6.0v: 0.13sec/60º, Weight: 2.18oz (62.0g)

94661 Torque at 6.0v: 170.8oz-in, Speed at 6.0v: 0.08sec/60º, Weight: 1.90oz (54.0g)

94780M Torque at 6.0v: 423oz-in, Speed at 6.0v: 0.15sec/60º, Weight: 2.33oz (66.0g)
